Outlook always says "Receiving 1 of X messages"

This isn't very common, but can be caused by a really large email being "stuck" on the server - especially if you are using dialup or it can also be caused by a spam message that Outlook is refusing to download.

This probably can be solved by logging into webmail at http://webmail.yourdomain.com and deleting the first message.
